Symptoms of Menopause

What are the signs of symptoms of menopause? We all have heard about menopause from our family and friends, but what are the real signs that you can expect when you begin this stage in your life?

You have probably heard from many women that describe their experiences with menopause. As you probably know by now, there are many different signs and symptoms associated with menopause. You also probably know that not everyone has the same menopause discomfort. But, now you must be wondering how you can tell when you reach this point in your life and if there is anything to do about the symptoms. Well, yes, there are many products available that can help you with the discomforts associated with menopause. You can talk with your doctor about the different options available to ease the physical strain and she may have some natural products that can help without hormonal replacement medications.

Okay, now you know there is help available, but how will you know if you are entering menopause. There are signs or symptoms that are very common among most women that have gone through menopause so will have an idea from other women such as yourself.

The most talked about sign or symptom is of course hot flashes. Hot flashes are caused by the constriction of blood vessels. Other symptoms associated with the constricting blood vessels can be night sweats, chills, flushes, palpitations of the heart, and dizziness. Not all women have reported severe cases of these symptoms while others report hot flashes and night sweats to be severe.

Sleep problems have also been associated with menopause. Some women may have trouble falling asleep while others have trouble staying asleep. Insomnia has been a menopause related effect that causes one to wake up several times during the night. These episodes may be due to night sweats.

Many women during menopause also experience vaginal dryness. This is associated with the vagina lining becoming thinner. Other menopause symptoms are frequent urination and infections. Because of the thinning lining sexual intercourse may at times be painful. Some women have severe pain while many only have some minor menopause related pains.

Mood swings have always been associated with menopause. As the hormone levels change periodic changes in moods can occur. They can be in the forms of anxiety, panic, irritability, and restlessness. Usually the severity is no worse than PMS.

Being overly tired and fatigued can be a sign of menopause. Many times these signs are due to the fact of restless sleep. It can be just a sign of the aging process as well.

Sore and or tender breasts may also be a sign of menopause; some women during menopause have reported this to their doctors. Your bone density decreases during the aging process but during menopause, it can occur very fast. So, osteoporosis is always a possibility. Because of the lower bone density tooth loss can also happen. Lower estrogen levels will cause changes in your mouth to occur and can turn into gum disease.

All of these signs and symptoms of menopause are a general description. You may experience very few of them or you may have all of them.
