Home > Relief from Menopause Hot FlashesSeeking Relief from Menopause Hot FlashesHot flashes are the most common and most annoying symptom of menopause that every woman deals with. Not only can you experience hot flashes during the day at any time or place but you can also have night sweats that will interrupt your sleeping patterns. This can cause you to be overly tired and irritable. So, what can you do about these hot flashes and night
sweats? Many women today trust black cohosh for relieving preventing hormonal surges and fluctuations that cause hot flashes. This herb is also great for giving relief of other menopause symptoms like mood swings, heart palpitations, depression and anxiety. You will be able to find black cohosh blended with other herbs like dong quai and sage. Some women prefer soy protein, but the black cohosh with the dong quai and sage has been proven to be more effective against more symptoms of menopause than the soy protein. The black cohosh is called the preserve blend and can be found at any herb shop and some retail stores. Other women prefer to use a progesterone cream. This is an all natural cream that many women agree relieve hot flashes and night sweats. Finding these types of creams is not very hard in today’s market. Many of these are sold at the super market or through certain companies that specialize in these products- ask your pharmacist. One company has a progesterone cream that many women say provides effective relief of menopause symptoms. They say the cream is a wonderful product that not only helps with hot flashes but has other benefits as well as an aid for dry skin. Other ways to find relief from menopausal hot flashes are as easy as dressing in layers so when you become to warm you can remove a layer and then add it back when you begin to chill. Natural fibers such as cotton allow your body to breathe better and can also help to reduce hot flashes. If there is any way to get to a glass of ice cold water, drink one as soon as the sign of the hot flash begins. An ice cold wash cloth immediately at the beginning of a hot flash can also deter the flash from lasting. Keeping your bedroom at a lower temperature and possibly a fan near by can also help in relieving night sweats once one starts. Cotton sheets and blankets are also great for allowing your body to breathe which will also help with deterring night sweats. Reports have shown that women that exercise regularly for about 30 minutes a day four times a week and eat a balanced diet have less hot flashes. But, before you begin any exercise or diet regime please talk with your doctor first. |
